The reign of Blackpink over fashion world will continue in 2022.
Except for their devoted fan base, known as the Blinks, no one in the fashion business adored Blackpink more in 2021 than the fashion industry. Lisa, Rosé, Jisoo, and Jennie have long been designer favorites, but they took center stage this season in a way that had never been seen before. Each participant brought something unique to the table to add to the discussion. From Rosé being the first K-Pop artist to dazzle at the Met Gala to Lisa debuting her solo career with a vintage-filled video that shook the internet, they all contributed to making the year more vibrant.
Jennie returned to the front row during Chanel's spring/summer 2022 ready-to-wear presentation, this time in an ensemble that celebrated everything youthful and whimsical about the 111-year-old fashion house's aesthetic. She might have gotten away with a simple black jacket, but Jennie's red tweed miniskirt and cropped vest were a show-stopping ensemble that she couldn't stop wearing. With several double-C necklaces and tiered pearl belts, it was Chanel through the eyes of Generation Z, and it let her stand out amid a gathering of other attractive brand representatives, which was a nice touch.
The girls have a unique position during fashion week, according to the terms of their different contracts. At Dior's destination show at Greece's Panathenaic Stadium in June, Jisoo offered fans a sneak peek of Maria Grazia Chiuri's cruise 2022 collection minutes before it reached the catwalk, providing a thrilling experience for spectators. Her exquisite white linen dress, which she teamed with the brand's hybrid sneaker-ankle boots, perfectly reflected the atmosphere of Chiuri's presentation, which had athletic Greco-Roman elements.
No discussion about Blackpink would be complete without mentioning the group's rapper Lisa, who has solidified her position as the undisputed queen of the daily outfit post. Even with the release of her solo EP Lalisa on the horizon, she managed to carve out time to keep one of the most captivating Instagram feeds on the internet. She was the most important fashion follow in 2021, thanks to her several looks into Hedi Slimane's newest Celine products, behind-the-scenes views into the life of a pop superstar, and a look at her ever-changing hair color.
It was a busy year for Rosé, but she managed to pull off a number of memorable milestones, including the release of her first song "On the Ground" and the accompanying fashion-filled music video that included ensembles from Alex Perry, Re/Done, and of course Saint Laurent. In one of the most attractive looks of the night, she wore a slinky LBD with an enormous white bow and an encrusted clover pattern necklace with hundreds of gems set against enamel. She is a muse for fashion designer Anthony Vaccarello, and she wore one of his most enticing looks at the Met Gala. Rosé has, of course, turned her attention to the world of jewelry, signing a lucrative ambassador agreement with Tiffany & Company earlier this year.
