SUGA becomes the first Korean solo artist to debut at the top of the Digital Song Sales chart
In the wake of the release of their collaborative album MUSIC, BTS and Juice WRLD have became the first Korean soloist to debut at the top of Billboard's digital single sales list.
"Girl of My Dreams," a duet between Suga and Juice WRLD, peaked at the top of Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart on December 20 at 8:00 a.m. local time (its weekly ranking of the best-selling songs in the United States).aThe achievement position Suga as the first Korean solo artist to debut at the top of the Digital Song Sales chart, a distinction he shares with other Asian artists. PSY's breakout smash "Gangnam Style" from 2012 was the only other Korean soloist song to ever reach the top of the charts, despite the fact that it didn't launch at the top of the charts.
"Girl of My Dreams," which debuted at No. 29 on Billboard's Hot 100, is the second-highest-charting debut by a Korean soloist in history (bested only by PSY). The fact that All I Want for Christmas Is You, Mariah Carey's 1994 hit, topped this week's chart only serves to emphasize the magnitude of the accomplishment.
In terms of digital song sales, "Girl of My Dreams" marks the first number one for both Suga and Juice WRLD with "Girl of My Dreams." Suga's "Daechwita" and Juice WRLD's "Come & Go" were both No. 2 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Juice WRLD's posthumous album "Fighting Demons," which was released earlier this month, includes the song "Girl of My Dreams."
Congrats on your tremendous achievement, Suga! Please accept our deepest congratulations!
